Type of a scam Debt Collections
I have received numerous, threatening calls from an agency calling themselves *** *** *** ***, although the name is stated so quickly, I am not sure if that is the correct name. I am told they are attempting to collect a debt from more than 15 years ago, and they are in the process of taking legal action.
I have called their number back to get more information and to request a copy of these legal proceedings. I have received no documentation and have since blocked the phone number.
Today, I received a phone call from a private number. It was a man claiming to be a legal courier named *** ***, who was calling from my county’s city circuit court. "***" claimed that several attempts have been made to get my signature from my residence (none that I have seen) and that the next step would be coming to my place of employment. "***" also demanded that I "plan my day accordingly" tomorrow, to be present between 3-6 so I may be served with papers. Failure to do so would result in my "court case" proceeding without me.
I have also been contacted by a belligerent female, who threatens me with legal action if I do not contact their office, and she leaves only a claim number (for documentation I have yet to see) with which I can refer to my "case."
I have continued to block any unknown numbers as they frequently turn out to be this "firm." I have researched this information online, and it appears that many individuals have complained about this company.
