every week for the past 2 months Penn Credit Corp at 1800.900.1380 either leaves a

message or when call is answered a voice automated teller indicates that we owe a debt of

$74.00 to publishers clearing house. If we are submitting payment via mail press 1, if we

cannot make entire payment press 2, if we want to currently pay over the phone press 3 to

speak to a representative. We have attempted to each prompt and to have our number

removed by speaking with a representative and the calls continue. Today 7/30/18 we

pressed 3 to speak again and it is now asking for a pin number to continue the call. In

previous calls, it indicated that the amount was going to be removed from our Wells Fargo

account. This is a SCAM we do not owe money.

They called a few times but never left a message. I finally answered one of their calls and they told me they were trying to collect a debt from August 29, 1985 and wanted me to send a check made out to Penn Credit Corp. When I asked who the debt was to, they told me the Treasury of New Jersey, Human Resources Soil Unit. I called the NJ Treasury and there is no Human Services Soil Unit. Also, the woman I spoke with assured me that if NJ wanted to collect this debt, they’d have gotten in touch with me much sooner that 30+ years, so we figured that it’s probably a scam. We had a good laugh over it, but I can only imagine how many times they’ve gotten away with this.
