Type of a scam Employment

I applied to the job on indeed.com, was responded to by email from the same person Mercio Fernandes. I did two Google Hangouts interviews, but never over the phone or through video chat. I was contacted via text by this person, but the number would never answer phone calls. They had their own website, legit looking site but a TextNow phone number was attached to it, which was a red flag. After two weeks was notified I got the job, and they would be sending startup funds to get the equipment needed after first saying they would send the equipment. The check was written off a third party from Chase Bank, called and verified the check was fake, was for 4,500$, which is just under the 5k limit to be flagged by a bank. Wanted picture proof of the deposit so as to take the funds out. Wanted me to fill out a W-4 and I-9 for my info but luckily I knew something was up beore hand and never gave them any information.
