Type of a scam Tech Support

April 28, 2017, while using my computer it locked up. An audio message and a pop up instructed me to call Microsoft at 855-821-7302 in order to unlock and stop the alarm buzzing. They said it my computer was infected by a type of Malware that could remove personal info. Apparently my antivirus app wasn’t sufficient to detect this kind of virus. For a fee of $200.00 they clean my computer and install a program that would prevent further infections. It comes with a lifetime warranty, which will sent via US mail. They let me "watch" while they did things like clear my browser history and cookies, and remove a couple of programs I was no longer using. I used my *** card to pay the fee. I didn’t use my computer over the weekend because I skeptical. Its a good thing because I called Microsoft to verify that Orange USA was indeed a subcontractor of theirs. I explained what happened and was told that Microsoft doesn’t use that contractor, nor do they notify users through pop ups. They went in and found that over 2500 viruses had been planted on my computer, and an additional 1000 viruses on my husband’s computer. After the real Microsoft cleaned my computer, I called *** to dispute the charge. Oddly, my account hasn’t been charged to date.
