Type of a scam Credit Repair/Debt Relief
I was referred to this company and after researching them and the positive reviews, I decided to try them out. I met with the owner in person at his office and he said he could get late payments and a bankruptcy removed from my credit. He said the start up fee was $149, and it had to be cash and then monthly payments of $79 would be taken from my bank account. I was hesitant because he couldn’t explain how the process works and then he said he couldn’t work with me because I didn’t trust him. I eventually agreed and he said he would send out the dispute letters asking for removal of late payments on that Monday. I checked my client portal on his website that Tuesday and noticed he had printed regular dispute letters. I called him and he said he would fix it as he didn’t know what I wanted. I decided after that conversation to cancel and get a refund. I called him back and explained I wanted a refund and he became upset and said I would get it when he decided to give it to me, he also said he was glad he never sent out any letters to begin with and continued to yell at me and I ended the call. I faxed him my notice to cancel and he called me back and said I had to sign a written agreement of refund, I asked if he could email it and I would fax it back. He says he wasn’t sure how he would send it and he had to call me back because he had clients. He text me later in the day and said he would mail my refund and that I needed to do a verbal agreement to refund because he closed in 5 min or I wouldn’t get my refund until the next week. I called him and he told me to hold on, he came back on the line and I asked was the conversation being recorded? I stated I wasn’t comfortable with the recording and he said it was the only way I would get a refund and this would keep us both safe. He read off some type of legal disclosure and asked me to agree to not contact BBB, FTC or write slanderous, negative reviews about him. I agreed but I felt threatened and blackmailed to do so. I received a check from his business on Friday and his bank charged me a $8 fee to cash it, I texted him and asked if I could mail it back and he can send me a money order and he replied that I was mentally unstable, a psycho and a trouble maker. He also said if I sent the check back I would get nothing. I received a call from his assistant who said she would see if he would mail me a money order for the $8 since I only received a partial refund of $141. I have never experienced such disrespect and unprofessionalism from a business owner. I will never trust another person to repair my credit or give them my personal info again.
