Total money lost $10,925

Type of a scam Home Improvement

On December 11, 2015 a company/persons approached my elderly mother at her door and suggested she needed her chimney repaired, that they were working in the area and could fix hers too. She gave them approval to fix the chimney and then they also suggested the foundation needed repairs. They performed some repair work (of which the quality and quantity is questionable) and invoiced her and she paid them. They continued to return to the property to do more and more “repair work”, billing her each time they returned. They then convinced her that she needed “mould and radon” abatement work performed. They fictitiously did this work as well and continued to request more money from her. They showed up at her door at inappropriate times of day (late evening, after dark, Boxing Day etc.) and demanded more payment. By the time it was discovered on December 27, 2015, they had invoiced her for over $11,000 worth of repair work that was either non-existent or sub-standard.
