Type of a scam Debt Collections
I was contacted by a third party company stating I needed to call a litigation firm. I called and was told that I had a bad debt from 2006 and I needed to pay a certain amount. If I didn’t pay that amount, Nov 3 they would file a civil suit against me. They said they had bought my legal debt from embarq, Century Link now. I called Century Link and they have NO records of me owing any amount of money. I called Franklin and Stone back and spoke with Lauren once again, and I told her what I had discovered. She asked if I had proof, I told her no. I told her I had spoken with Century Link and they show nothing owed. She told me with court it is all about showing documentation and I don’t have any. She said I could pay the small amount now or be forced to pay the rest plus her fee. I kept questioning her and she said “oh my god” and hung up on me! I truly feel this is a scam company!!! She does have all my info tho, which is a bit scary!!
