Type of a scam Identity Theft
I don’t know if this is a scam or not but I want you folks to be aware of these types of letters that is going around. I received a letter from the United States Office of Personnel Management saying their office was the target of a malicious intrusion carried out against the U. S. Government, which resulted in the theft of background investigation records. Most of the individuals whose info was stolen previously provided information for a background investigation or were listed on a background investigation form by a spouse or a co-habitant.
This is the way the first paragraph is written and it tells on down the page "you are receiving this notice because we determined that your social security number and other personal info was included in the intrusion".
