Type of a scam Counterfeit Product

This was a door to door scam. Two men knocked on my door (one was shadowing the other) and stated they were partnered with my alarm company ADT, and they needed to upgrade my system because I had an older model. They discussed how my current alarm model wouldn’t be able to receive communications with the police department and fire department because the cell towers were switching from 2G network to 4G network. As he started going more in detail about how he could add security bars to my basement windows and how they had a mobile app that would allow me to use the security system by using any smartphone, I stated that I already had an ADT app on my phone. So this made me think if you’re partnered with ADT and they have you upgrading alarm systems, why are u asking questions about an app that you should already know I have, and why are you starting to sound like you’re selling me more equipment. He was very persistent in getting started and trying to get my information but I didn’t give it to him because I had a gut feeling that something wasn’t right. I called ADT to confirm what they told me, and I was correct. These men were not with ADT. ADT stated that they were a scam trying to get me locked in a contract, and they were trying to remove ADT equipment and replace it with their equipment. I was targeted because I had an ADT sign posted in my yard. So BEWARE, this company is a SCAM!
