I have been scammed by a company that calls itself the national institute of health. They want you to buy a 250.00 Google play card. Send a picture of it. Then to get the tracking number they ask you to pay 1000.00 at western union to get the tracking numbers.

A “friend” sent an email on Messenger asking if I have heard of a program through the National Institute of Health for helping the old, disabled, retired and widows. They asked for my name, address, phone number and my current age to see if I was a winner of a grant for 100,000.
Once I gave them that information they gave me a reference # and asked me to get 5 $100 ITunes cards. They said they were a federal agent. This seemed odd to me that a federal agent was working on a Sunday. I needed to get them the gift cards right away. They kept texting and when I didn’t respond they started sending inappropriate messenger emails again.

A number from the United States kept calling my phone but I wouldn’t answer the phone. Finally, I decided to answer my phone and the lady stated that I was accepted to receive a government grant and that I didn’t have to pay anything. She stated my name and the state I live in as well. Then, she proceeded to ask me for my driver’s license number as a form of identification. Immediately, I began to notice this was a scam. I didn’t apply for any grant money from the government at all. I told the lady I was busy and call back later. As soon as we hung up the phone, I visited this website to find out for sure if this was a scam. I wasn’t surprised to find out that this was indeed a scam.

Different men with strong Indian accent and poor English vocabulary have been calling several times to my cellphone even on Saturday, claiming that the National Institute of Health Government Dept has granted me $9,000.00 I hung up. Then later I was called again by a different guy different voice, but same Indian accent telling me that I have a grant of 14,000usd That every year the government grant money to some citizens who never filed for bankruptcy, had a criminal record or a traffic violation, etc. He told me to take note of a grant manager phone number that I need to call a grant ID number and an address, and that I need to call immediately. I asked questions that he pretended not to understand and was very insistent that, it is my money and they don’t want to keep it, soon after he started asking me to confirm my name, my age, my telephone number, my marital status, my address, etc. I refused to confirm more than just my name and phone number. This calls are so classic scams to still someone’s identity.

The caller spoke with a thick foreign accent. He described the process to me how the government chose me to receive $14,566 in grant money to use as I choose. He had me write down a number #PS013, a phone number 240-437-4044 ( which I called to find that this is a personal number belonging to an innocent citizen, without an accent completely unaware of this situation), and an address: 9000 Rockville Pike, Bethesda, Maryland 20392. After having me write all this information he told me that in order to receive the "grant" money I would need to give him my bank account number or debit card number so they can "put the money there." When I told him he was "out of his mind" he suggested I buy a pre-paid card to gave them put it on that. When I continued to enforce that this was a scam he proceeded to defend himself. The connection was really bad as well.

Consumer received calls from individual stating that she had been selected for a grant due to her application and for her good credit scores. Scammer requested a prepaid or credit card that grant could be sent to and informed her that taxes would need to be paid to IRS in amount of $999. Consumer was instructed to pay $400 for processing fees which consumer did via itunes cards. Scammer told consumer that he attempted to transfer money in her account but that he was unsuccessful because her account was now being rejected due to her credit store. Scammer requested another $275 so that scammer could contact IRS and increase consumer’s credit score so that scammer could transfer money to the consumer’s account.

Was told he couldn’t talk to anybody and to purchase an Apple Gift Card for $500. Last year they were doing a selection and Amazon was sending grants, but Apple was doing it this year. He was given a badge number of: JAS125896. The grant approval number is TX23108. The caller said 900 people were selected in the country and 500 in Texas. This is not the first call he had received.

Officer Andrew White badge ID # AW294 called me with his phone number and address to tell me I have been selected to receive $14,566.00 in tax free monies because I met the following criteria:
Paid my taxes on time
No criminal record
have not cost the Federal government any monies (verbatim)
The grant comes partially from the government and partially from private donations , in my case Apple.
He told me we would be putting those monies on an Apple card right over the phone. I asked him to send it to my address as he confirmed he had my address. I was told the transaction was going to be complete before we got off the phone.
I was offer the choice of having it wire transferred to an account. I declined that choice.
When I looked up the scam online while on the phone and started to read the information to him, he became defensive and said he would send the police department in my town to my door to deliver the grant. I told him I thought that was a wonderful idea and that I would wait for the police.
I’m still waiting… hahaha I knew it was a scam from the beginning but I wanted to play it out with him on the phone to get more information to report

A man with a heavy Indian accent called to give me a grant from the National Institute of Health. He called himself Edward Green and said I was selected randomly as tax payer to receive a grant that would never have to be paid back. I believe he said it was for $600.00 but I could not understand him clearly on the "6" part of the number.
He said my grant authorization number is AG013 and his grant offer personal number is 2404374232 (this could be a phone number but he did not say that it was) and the address is: 9000 Rockville, Pike, Bethesda, MD 20892
He then said, "How would you like your money delivered, by transfering it directly into your bank account, or your Visa or Mastercard or…?" a third way that was similar to that but I was not able to understand exactly what he said on that one. Either way I would have to give him access to my credit card number or bank account numbers. He was not willing to send me a check.
I am sure this had to be a scam. I hope this helps in some way to stop it.

I had a gentlemen by the name of Adam Sowalsky call me today to tell me that I had recieved a grant for $14,566. He started out by giving me my personal information. Then told me to go to Walgreens or CVS and purchase a prepaid card for $300, which would be reimbursed through the grant. I started asking him information about a website. He gave me a website of Adam Sowalsky(which was a PhD) and also The National Institute of Health. When I was looking up this information, he became very pushy and wanted to rush me to the nearest Walgreens or CVS.

My name is Shannon Slover and I was contacted this afternoon buy an institution called the National Institute of Health located at 915 2nd Avenue West Seattle, Washington 98198 telephone number 206-538-5498 this was for an individual government grant. I was told it was tax free and in the amount of $14,566. They asked for the last 4 digits of my social security number and my state ID number. I spoke with a gentleman named Eric who then sent me to Mr. Tim Johnson holds the title of U.S. Senior Grant manager, said his U.S. Government badge ID # was JT10124A. He also gave me the email address of www.grants.nih.gov and even had me look up the website while he was on the phone with me I had several failed attempts because it wouldn’t download upload and I heard a change in his voice and he had asked me to continue to try it again and then he told me that the funds would be deposited onto a debit card within 20 minutes of approval from my background check. And the backgrounds process was to go to Walmart and fill a red and white form in the background check was to make sure I was not a murderer or a terrorist and he kept stressing that I was not allowed to use my money for any illegal activities or buying drugs are selling drugs and after the clerk at Walmart through MoneyGram confirmed my background I would receive a white receipt with an 8 digit number and they tell you that you have to stay on the phone with them the whole time so he proceeded to tell me that they needed a refundable deposit of $360 that would be refunded instantly with my grant money and when I told him that I lived on disability had a limited income that I could not afford that he told me that because they were a government agency that because I refused the grant that all my government benefits would cease because it showed the government that I didn’t need the money I live on $*** a month who doesn’t need extra money but from what I understand is that when you get a grant from the government and this is per Social Security they do not ask for even a refundable deposit

They call you over and over again and they already have your information telling you that you have been a good citizen and the government wants to reward you with grant money for 14000 or more and all you have to do is give them the tax money or registration to prove you are who you say you are. This didn’t sit well with me at all and they have a site too called www.nih.gov for you to go onto and they tell you it’s only good for 24 hours. Sorry, no fool here.
