My father was told the amount would be $725 for the puppy he picked out for my mother. It was an impulse buy as my mother has been very sad and depressed after we lost one pug from old age and another one drowned in the canal by our house. We were so excited. We were told to pay via Zelle. The morning of shipment, we were asked for an additional $900 for insurance. Unfortunately we could not afford this. We were told that we would be returned $525 back and still have not received it. They said that the $200 we weren’t getting back was due to shipping fees for sending the dog out and then cancelling shipment which we understood, but again not told about beforehand. Please be careful!

Scam. Paid $800 via Zelle for a pug. They needed $950 for insurance. This was asked right before the ‘shipping company’ was getting the dog on the plane. $900 was going to be returned once the dog was received. This was also via Zelle.
Then they called and asked for an additional $850 for a temperature controlled crate that they airline required. I refused to pay again through Zelle and asked for a website where I could pay via credit card. They didn’t have one and asked to be paid via ApplePay. I told him I didn’t have it then he asked to be paid by Amazon gift cards. The guy got very upset saying his job was on the line and demanded we pay him. Once they knew we were on to them they stopped answering calls.

They are pretty sophisticated. They give you a shipping company website (static shipping), a tracking and confirmation number. It all looks good legitimate. Neither are…

Just inquired about a puppy. Was very short text responses. Not friendly at all. Asked location and just gave TX at first. Would not send additional pics of puppy or of parents. Just kept saying “site is current”. Finally said was located in Brownsville TX … practically Mexico. We then said we were not interested any longer. Person then proceeded to call me every foul name you can think of. Once I explained the suspicion but wanted to further investigate and give benefit of doubt he stopped all communication. Definite scam!
Puppies shown are on beautiful green grass … that doesn’t exist in Brownsville TX. Sorry about your money loss. Thank you for sharing and helping others keep from getting scammed too.
