Type of a scam Debt Collections
I received a phone call from this "debt collector" saying that I am behind on a payday loan I took out in 2011. They had my name from then, the last 4 of my ssn and an old physical address. They also had a job and a bank that were incorrect for me. They want me to pay $640 now so that it won’t get put on my credit report and if I don’t then I am going to have to pay over $3000. I told them that I have never taken out a payday loan and that some of the information was incorrect and to send me information from when I supposedly took out the loan. They would not give me the information other than that it was online and said that they (the original company) had already sent me information back in 2011. They then proceeded to try and convince me to pay the $640, and if I could not do that then they would take 80% of the debt. I again refused and stated that I would not be giving them a dime until I received information about the supposed loan. Again they tried talking me into paying the "debt" until I hung up on them.
