Type of a scam Employment

I received a text message offering a position as a secret shopper for a company calling itself Mystery Shopping Customer Metrics, which I accepted. A few days later, I received a letter in the mail with instructions about how to cash the $1900 cashier’s check that was also enclosed in the package. The heading on the letter was titled "Actionable intelligence delivery" " & "#1 Employer of Mystery Shopper" The cashier’s check that appears like its from Capital One Bank for $1,900.

There are instructions for the "job" with steps to follow including depositing the Cashiers Check , purchasing 3 Best Buy Gift Cards for $500 a piece. Then Scratching the code on yhe back of the cards to send in photos of it with the reciept, completing a survey and yhen recieving my $400 in pay.

The envelope that this came in has a return address labeled from : Becky Vaille, Cochlear Boulder LLC, Boulder, CO. I have researched this person and company to find it appears to sell medical supplies and she appears to be a financial manager for the company.

Solicited to be a secret shopper. Received a check

In the mail with instructions to cash or deposit funds in my account $1900. I was then instructed to purchase 3 Best Buy gift cards for $500 each and the remainder would be my my fee $400 once purchased I was to text back my experience and all the gift card info including the scratch off number. What would happen next I don’t know and don’t want to because I was smart enough to go online before I attempted to cash anything and chat with bank on the check to verify if the check was good or not and it wasn’t! Thank goodness I checked first. Quick money makers beware they are out to use you and mess up your account, credit, and possibly risk arrest for cashing a fraudulent check,
