Type of a scam Rental
We were looking for House for rental in Honolulu. A property was posted on Craigslist under the following contact names:

The contact which was the scammer pretended to be the owner, suggested we view the property, during an open day, as it was being offered for sale under a local agent, details:

We filled an application form with personal info like social security number and ID – we are concerned about ID theft now. The scammer subsequently asked for deposit to be paid into a bank account – address & bank details of scammer:

Acct No: *** *** *** Bank address: 5471 Crenshaw Blvd,Los Angeles, CA 90043
Meantime we decided to check the owners before forwarding payment as the advert in Craigslist had been removed and as they appeared to be too eager to rent the property at a below market price. We discovered the property is owned by a family trust – *** ** *** Trust.
We checked with the realtor who confirmed this must be a scam.
We did not further contact the scammers, they stopped sending us follow up emails and no contact has been made since 01 October 2019.
We reported this to local Honolulu police however as no money had been paid they suggested we report it to “Better Business Bureau” and at their suggestion we are now reporting our experience.
