BBB received a call from a consumer reporting he received a call at 6pm Saturday evening claiming to be from Mohave Electric and claimed the business owner had not paid the electric bill for several months. They proceeded to tell him he needed to pay $500 immediately to avoid the power being shut down. Because the landlord pays the utilities, the business owner was unsure if the bill was paid or not. He was instructed to go to *** and get a green card for $500 and call them back with the number to avoid the shutdown. The business owner did as directed and later learned he was scammed.
