Type of a scam Phishing
The caller said he represented a company who provided analysis for microsoft. He claimed that they were going out of business and as a result they owed me money. They asked me how I wanted to receive the money, through paypal credit card or direct deposit. I selected direct deposit,gave them access to my computer, and asked me if i had online banking. They proceded to deposit money into my checking account, however the amount was $2400 not 400 as was discussed. The caller was all appologies and indicated that a mistake was made with the deposit and he could not withdraw the extra $2000 and he could lose his job, stupid me believed him. He asked me to help him out by going to Best Buy and purchase ITUNES gift cards to make up the differance. BestBuy alerted me that it was a scam! I did not lose money and alerted my bank.
