Michael Garrison will ask you to send money to Brian Tate-Bas at 4558 Broadway NY, NY. This is the FORT GEORGE POST OFFICE THAT NEVER ANSWER THEIR PHONES. Someone in that office knows something! beware! Please
I sent the money. I am beyond ashamed of myself. I have been an ASL interpreter for years! The check WILL BOUNCE. The job is fake. I sent 1500 dollars as a cashier’s check. Once I realized this was a scam and a lie I begged BANK OF AMERICA to PLEASE stop payment. Of course it was a cashier’s check so they “could not”. His FAKE ADDRESS is Trump towers. His fake partner in crime is a PO BOX in Fort George NY. I called the PO to try to stop the check. Noone answers the phone. These people are liars and EVIL! There is no conference!

I’d like to know, what did the scammers tell you that $1500 was for? I’m somewhat new to interpreting and would like to know what to look out for in the future, since this scam was so convincing.

You must be present online to connect to the meeting to interpret. It will be 7 days long and held between 10 AM and 12 PM Monday through Friday, August 17th to the 21st, 24th and 25th. If you are available and interested please reply back soon and advise on how much you would like to be paid per hour.

I asked for a phone interview and the response was:
Thank you for showing interest. Your rate is fine. Our conference will be about empowering the deaf on a wide variety of categories including the workforce. We will have roughly 50 deaf participants and it will be a team of 2 interpreters including you if you would like to move forward.
We will be providing you with the necessary equipment (VRI) you need to transmit the conference with us in order to provide the best service to our participants. We will also send you an advance payment of $300 and the remaining balance will be sent on the 5th day. Please send us your full name and address in order to move forward.
I received the following recruitment email:
“ Greetings to you, we are a company called Golden Sun and you can view our website at goldensunenterprises.com.

She. I asked to hold a phone conversation I received this reply:

I do apologize, however due to the large amount of work I have, I can only maintain communication via email at this time. If you have more questions for me, please ask them via email. You must reply to my email so that I know you are serious regarding this position.

Further investigation showed a web site and Facebook page devoid of much content. No hiring paperwork, the declaration that a $300 advance was sent- nothing of that sort was done. And the following curt email when I asked to clarify job details and then back out:
“ You are too impatient to wait for my reply.
If that is what you want, I will remove your information as requested. You may trash or send back our check when you receive it.

As you might expect- no check nor any form of equipment was ever sent to me. It seems this man wants our names and contact information.

I applied to a virtual assistant job that was posted on indeed.com. With the company name “Crown delivery and logistics” I was contacted 4 days after I applied that I got the job. This is the 1st email the general manager sent me:
“ Hello
You have been selected among the successful candidates for the position of a Virtual Assistant.
Your job will be to accept various types of items that will be delivered right to your home, inspect them for compliance, ensure the products meets client specifications and provide us with detailed information on the received products. We will verify and provide you with the data to further shipment transportation. You will then need to ship out the packages to the specified given locations.
Please provide us with your full name, physical address and phone number if you understand your duties and are ready to begin.

I proceeded to just provide first and last name, address, and phone number and asked to video call because I had some questions.
The last email was:
“I have just completed creating your profile with the company. Be informed that this job only requires the 1099-MISC form which you will receive in the mail shortly after your employment is confirmed with us. Your tax forms are in the process of being mailed to you. Benefits become active after 3 months of continuous employment.You will receive medical and dental benefits as well as a 401k and stock purchase plan. These all begin after 3 months from the start date of your employment with us. You are being compensated $25 per hour which amounts to $2,000 biweekly through your choice of direct deposit, PayPal or by paper check, Please confirm with us your preferred mode of payment and your payment details where its applicable.
Your first assignment has been mailed to you. You have two items to receive. You are expected to receive them between 5 to 7 business days. Keep checking your mailbox and let me know as soon as you have them.

Red flags popped up after getting the email. I thought no interview, no video call, no phone number, and no picture. I previously googled re-shipping scams to be aware and I’m 100% this is a scam.
I quickly sent an email saying
“Hello, I am no longer interested in the position”
Now I don’t know if they will send the package or not. I am hoping they didn’t.
