Man calls claiming to be grandson, says he’s in jail in Meridian and needs grandma’s help to get out. They want $7,000 to get him out of the holding cell, but if she gets them the money within the next couple of hours, they will reduce it to $3,500. She needs to go to Walmart and get gift cards and do not mention this to anyone, they will call back in an hour and see if she has it.
Grandma was just about to go to Walmart and do as the caller asked, but then her grand daughter walked in and knew by the look on her face that something was wrong. She probed her until she came clean and was thankfully told that this was a scam. This grandma is 81 years old. Thank God for my niece! She got there before my mom could do anything stupid. This just makes me sick!
