Type of a scam Sweepstakes/Lottery/Prizes
Someone from "Mega Lottery" called my mother stating that she won $500,000.00 on behalf of this organization. They are going to arrive tomorrow (Dec 4) and present a cheque to her from 1:00 – 2:00 pm. This starred her!! *** * *** *** *** *** ** *** *** *** *** They asked her provide proof via "Western Union" of $512.00, as they need this before they can give her the cheque. This is a fee to cover the insurance and delivery expenses. Man (John Morgan) said he was calling from Newfoundland, had her address, phone # and all other information. My mother wrote down all the reference #’s he provided to her and advised her not to show any one for fear they try to steal her winnings! Just wanted to make aware, she is an elderly lady and has hearing issues, thankfully i was there to take the call with her. They asked if I could assist her with the $512.00 by offering to pay half. But then he said they didn’t want money this was just to confirm from Western Union to get her money.
