Type of a scam Fake Check/Money Order
I received an email asking if I wanted to become a secret shopper. I agreed and sent them my email and phone number. The first time I did not get anything in the mail. I emailed them back and told them that I thought it was all a scam. I received a second email with an apology and blaming the postal service. I received a third email telling me that I would soon receive a check with instructions. I got the envelope today . It contained a check in the amount of 2.010.80. I was told to deposit the check and wait a few hours or the next day for funds to be deposited. I would then buy a cashier’s check in the amount of 50 dollars from my bank for a donation to the American Cancer Society. I was to send the remaining 1,400.80 to a recipient by the main of Hudson Landon in Pasadena CA. I was to email scanned copies of all receipts. I was to be paid 500 dollars for rating the service at the Walmart. The address where envelope was sent is in Savannah, Georgia. The check comes from Ascentra credit union in Bettendorf, Iowa. The check does not look real. I was scammed. Too good to be true.
