Phone call from 1-800-490-4388 stating they were from Medicare and wanted to verify whether new updated Medicare card was received. Was persistent in trying to guarantee they were with Medicare and wasn’t a scam. I hung up and called the same number back. It was Direct TV.

A male with a foreign accent called to say they will send me my new medicare card, but needed my card number. They insisted they needed the card number so they could send the card. Luckily I didn’t give them the card number

I work as a home caregiver for the elderly. I love my job and my clients! Nothing makes my blood boil more than a scammer trying to take advantage of them! ?? My particular client in question is the sweetest woman I have ever had the pleasure to meet! And, luckily for these scammers, she is mildly mentally challenged and quite gullible (as are most elderly clients of mine) and for the past several months has been receiving MULTIPLE phone calls EVERY DAY from several different numbers. Mostly Florida, California, South Carolina, and occasional random names have shown up on the caller ID – claiming to be with Medicare or Medicaid and offering her a back brace. Other than the usual health issues (sugar diabetes, hearing problems, etc.) physically she is in good health and gets around quite impressively. So I was confused why they would be offering a back brace out of no where. Which immediately raised my suspicion a few months ago when these calls started. I had informed her that the calls were a scam and to not give any personal information to them if she answered a call from them. Unfortunately she had informed me that she had given them some personal information (just her account number, thankfully.) because she genuinely believed that the person on the other end of the phone was from her insurance company. I answered a phone call this afternoon during my shift at her home, I then asked if I could be forwarded to someone who could remove her number from the call list and THE PIECE OF ?? JUST HUNG UP ON ME!!! I really think I might give the unlucky guy who calls next time a piece of my mind. Or I might just think of a way to mess with him and record it for all my friends online to chuckle at… who knows. Until then, BE AWARE! And NEVER EVER EVER FIVE OUT PERSONAL INFO OVER THE PHONE! Completely annoyed and over these scammers!
