Type of a scam Sweepstakes/Lottery/Prizes
A woman called to let us know we should have received a blue envelope letting us know we received a second prize for $500,000 in a mixed international sweepstakes connected, we thought, with Publishers Clearing House. She connected us with an attorney from Mayer and Brandt Assoc. who explained many details about the taxes and their involvement with helping us pay for some fee required by a bank overseas (Hong Kong Shanghai Bank of China) that would be paid back to us. The security deposit was $6,500, but they could cover all but $1625 according to some law in Wisconsin. Other states had different regulations regarding how much they could cover for us. They had a date to bring us a check, Jan 15, but we had to get them the money before then.
