Do not use Maui Villa Rentals and someone named David Becks. Just discovered I’ve been scammed out of my 5 days in Maui and not trying to find other accommodations. Wanting to share this with others.

This outfit advertised villa rentals in Lahaina, HI. I got a contract, signed it, and sent a money order to the "owner" in Texas. No receipt came and the web site and phone number no longer work. I got seriously scammed. Avoid a guy who called himself David Becks! Also a guy calling himself Jacob Mullen in Austin, TX.

I was searching for a vacation rental in maui when a result, which I thought was from Maui Villa Rentals.com came up. BUT, it was a scam vacation rental using their site. It offered me a very nice 2 bedroom, 2 bath cottage rental (Cottage ID 6201D) in Wailea. I thought it was legit. I filled in the inquiry form fields online to inquire about the dates in Feb 2018 I was looking for. David Becks, Property Manager, Maui Villa Rentals, sent me via email a rental agreement – looked legit – so I printed, signed and scanned it back. Of course, I still fell for the payment = cashiers check, wire transfer… before hand. All of it before hand to the tune of $3300 US. There were pictures, reviews, even came up on AirNB, but no. It was a scam. I did wire the money to the details he provided. When I emailed to see if they received the $$$$ and get details on the rental, came back undeliverable. The phone number is also bogus. I phoned the real Maui Villa Rentals.com and they have received hundreds of calls about this site and they told me the site was shut down as of August 10. I am usually more vigilant than this, but I acted in good faith on something that looked like it was on a legit site and was legit. It wasn’t. I should have been leary when the 100% cash was needed within 72 hrs to secure the deal, but….
