Type of a scam Identity Theft

I was called about my alleged failure to report for Federal Jury Duty. the fake Officer from the "warrants division" said I need to take care the matter immediately to avoid possible arrest by local sheriff’s deputies. I was instructed to obtain cash ($295) to purchase a "green dot" prepaid card and then give the caller the prepaid card number on the back. I was told to meet him at the County Sheriffs office to sign paperwork to clear the matter up. while driving to the Sheriffs office he asked me for a credit card number for a $1.99 charge and also asked for my date of birth. Thats when I knew it was a scam. When i came to my senses I called 911 and reported the scam and gave a police report. The real sheriffs deputy said i wasn’t the first to fall victim to this scam. He said there was NO warrants on me at all. Shortly after the police report I called my credit card company and blocked all card transactions. The next morning I called my bank and explained what had happened to protect my checking account. But I am still upset how they used fear of arrest to motivate me to give them the info they needed to steal my identity.
