Type of a scam Fake Check/Money Order
I received a letter with a check enclosed for the amount of $2,150.00 in my name. I was told in the letter to deposit the check and then after the funds were available, continue to a Walmart of my choice and purchase 4 gift cards in the amount of 500.00, 500.00, 500.00, and 300.00. After purchase , I was to take photos of front and back of each card and send it to a phone number by text ( which the number changed after my first text). I knew it was a scam after reading the text and recognizing the wrong English (THANKS TO DR. PHIL’S SHOW). I asked them by text if I could cash the check at Walmart and they quickly said they require it to be deposited. Please do your homework before proceeding and messing yourself up.
