Type of a scam Fake Check/Money Order
I received an "Assignment Memo" thanking me for showing interest in a Kroger survey project. In addition, they wanted me to evaluate any Walgreens or Target store near me.
The check was for $1,930.00…I was to cash this check, "or deposit it if unable to cash the same day; funds will be available within 24 hours".
Then I was to buy Google Play Gift cards of $500 each @ Kroger, Walgreens and Target stores. While I was "shopping" in the store, I was to evaluate the store–ambiance/name of store clerk/customer service received, etc. Then I was to take pxs of the gift cards and send them via email (including scratching off the back of the gift cards to reveal the hidden code).
I was to communicate with "Mike Lawson" via email, "due to my heavy workload", per him.
