Type of a scam Utility
A woman came to our door twice today claiming to be a "supervisor" with a fake company "ESCO" (Which in reality stands for "Energy Supplying Company") associated with Con Edison and National Grid. She said she was sent to make sure that we were being charged correct rates for our bills, that there were many errors on our street. She asked to see our utility bills, and tried to call Con Edison. She informed us that our current energy provider, Green Mountain Energy is only in New York City, not Brooklyn, and that we should instead change to Josco. She claimed that Josco was the Brooklyn branch of Green Mountain Energy. The more we questioned her, the more convoluted her story became, she kept repeating that she was the manager, and that she had no supervisor we could speak to. She gave us a name and number (possibly false) Taisha Selby at 704-777-6093. She started to write Josco but wrote her name and number over it so it’s all quite illegible. Upon having done some research I found out that many other people in our area have also been approached by these people. If you can do anything to help, we would really appreciate it, they are continuously harassing the people in my community.
