Type of a scam Fake Check/Money Order

They contacted me through text asking if I was Interested in a position to work remotely. I was instructed to download an app to do an interview. No phone calls or website was shown. I was asked to complete job questions on the all. I was emailed a job description and asked to deposit a check they were mailing to my account and send the completion by a screenshot and I would have the company rep come to me. After requesting an HR representative I have not received another response.

Type of a scam Online Purchase

Signed up for a free trial, which required a credit card. Could not cancel, despite being charged $15/mo for over a year. Have repeatedly requested cancellation, but been told this "cannot be done via email."

Tried their suggested "online chat", but that requires a login to a website I don’t have a password for. Tried to reset the password, but that didn’t work either.

Was told I needed to call an 800 number to cancel. Tried that, was put through to an automated system which required me to enter a credit card number to confirm cancellation.

Contacted customer support via email, they replied:

"We are sorry to hear that you would like to have your account cancelled. For security purposes, we must validate your account prior to cancelling and cannot do this by e-mail. For this reason please contact our Customer Support Department at 1-866-563-9212 option 1. To immediately reach a Customer Support agent press the * (star key) at any time.
