Type of a scam Fake Check/Money Order
I received an email in my university operated email address from a Paola Castillo [email protected] The email stated that I will receive $300 a week and will only have to work flexible hours. They asked for my name, address, date of birth, phone number, email, gender, and current place of employment. I proceeded to give them the information weary but I assumed that most of the stuff they are asking for is public record anyway. They emailed back with a different address [email protected] saying that I was approved for the position then sent me a follow up email explaining the details of the job. The email read:
Hello Summy Banjo,
You will be getting paid every Friday of the week,You are entitled to $310 as your weekly pay. We shall mail you a money order or check to cover your start up salary which will also include money for you to pay the supplier so she can start working on materials that will be supplied out to our agents. Once you receive the money order and you cash it, you are to deduct $310 from it as your payment for your job, you will then make a deposit into the supplier’s bank account, so he/she can get the supplies for the agents, Kindly write back to let us know that you receive and understand this email. We await to hear from you ASAP.
Everyone here at WPG Holdings wishes you the best of luck Once again.
This email was sent on February 23rd.
Today on March 3rd I then received a text from a number (405)-252-0651 informing me that the check was delivered. I texted back asking for the account number of the so called supplier and they answered very vaguely. I received the check in the mailbox for an amount of $1,575. It came with a package with a return address of an Andrea Gilbert

It just seemed really sketchy. My boyfriend then researched this so called company and found out that it was a scam targeting college students. The area code of the number is from Oklahoma. So this meant that this "company" had people from OK, MA, and TX.
