Type of a scam Employment
Received email offering me a mystery shopping position. Company identified itself as Insights Research. Received and completed very official looking application and other onboarding documents. Received a check drawn from Eastern Michigan Bank, signed by Cindy Carrol and instructed to deposit the check and start my assignment. A portion of the check was to be spent on the assignments, and a portion was to be kept as the first pay for the completed work. After reviewing the instructions regarding the check, it was clear it was a scam. Check was mailed from 9575 Main St. Remsen NY, 13438-3830. Research showed that the house is currently vacant and up for sale.
