Type of a scam Utility
I live in a security apartment building. A young man knocked on my door at about 6:30 PM. He said he got permission from the complex office. (That was a lie as I later found out) He asked to see my gas and electric bills to see if I qualified for a reduced price. I did show these to him . He stated I had been overcharged and I qualified and would see a reduction on my next bill. He took my name, address, utility account numbers and phone number. (DUMB) He waited as his ‘office’ called me (recording the call) for me to confirm I had agreed to change my utility suppliers. When I answered I immediately said NO – NO I am not changing my suppliers and hung up. My apartment complex advised me to call the local police and report the incident to them which I did immediately.
