Type of a scam Advance Fee Loan
I applied for a personal loan online. I get a call from said company mentioned above that I was approved. A loan officer then contacts me via text and tells me that a check for 900 will be deposited into my account and that is to pay the insurance on the loan. He tell me I need to get gift cards to pay the insurance. I did so and go to find out my bank locked my account for fraudulent activity. I contacted my bank and was told the check deposited through my online banking was fake. I contacted the prepaid gift cards who are investigating and hoping that because I called while the charges are still pending that I will be able to get that money back to my bank.
