Type of a scam Identity Theft

My intention was to call the customer service number on the back of my credit card to order a new card because mine is cracked. Unknowingly, I accidentally misdialed by one number and, thinking I was speaking to my credit card customer service department, I carried on a lengthy conversation with a foreign young man confirming my name, date of birth, phone number, email address, my credit card number, expiration date and security code on the back of the card. He said this was verification information and gave me a code and phone number to call to order a new card. I immediately felt something was wrong and, realizing I had misdialed the number, called the correct customer service phone number on my card. The call rang and rang and no-one answered. I called the correct number from my wife’s phone and it went through and I explained everything to the representative. She verified charges I had made today and closed that card number account and is reissuing a new card with a new number. She is going to notify us and their fraud department if any new charges try to go through.
