Type of a scam Identity Theft
I picked up the phone call and the person on the other end identified himself as a police officer from the Idaho State Police Department. He had a slight accident – Indian to be specific. He said that there has been charges and suspicious activity under my identity, and if I would like to know what these activities are. I told him, sure, I would like to know. He said he would put me on a brief hold to transfer me to his supervisor. After a couple minutes, he came back on the line, trying to use a deeper voice and stated that he was the supervisor. It was quite obvious that it was still the same person. He proceeded to ask, whether someone from the department have been calling the past two days to inform me about an affidavit that’s been filed against me. I told him no and told him that he’s a fraud and to not call back anymore. After that, I hung up on him.
