I received a phone call from the number 800-488-6151 and the caller id said ID POWER CO CUS. It was a computer generated message that said something close to "due to nonpayment the electrical service would be disconnected within 30 minutes if I did not call and make the full payment by calling 1-800-906-3167".

Scammers can clone caller ID! A scammer called our business with a cloned Idaho power phone number 800-488-6151 instructing you to call 800-309-8740, in which they have the Idaho Power automated answering service RECORDED on what sounds like a 1980 recorder. You won’t be able to use the voice command. Any way, CALLER ID CAN BE CLONED so just look up the appropriate phone number on any and all of you bills, always call any collector back via a phone number you can look up yourself or just mail the payment!

I would also like to state that our business here in Nampa receives between 5 and 25 call per day from robo, scam and sales calls per day. Do not call list means nothing and the FCC needs to get this figured out!

Had a recording on our voice mail Monday July 16, 2018 stating "This is Idaho Power, please call our customer service @ 208-901-7773". Repeated several times. I called and was told the power was going to be shut off due to past due account. Told him I’d verify the validity and "call him back" He said to make sure to call back at the number provided and ask for the account manager Jacob. I never called back because I knew this was true.

Stated they were an Idaho Power representative & that our business account was overdue & a technician was in route to disconnect service. We were to go get a moneypak express pay card for specified amount & call back with card number. We were told that the money could be refunded if the account was made good.

Person spoofed Idaho Power’s phone number and caller ID. The man on the other end of the line called the small business I work at and asked to speak with the person who handles the utilities payment. I told him they weren’t in. He said our power bill was not paid and a technician was headed out to shut it of. I said ok, and he reiterated they were coming to shut off the power and i just said ‘ok’ again. He got frustrated before he could ask for money, but i assume the call was headed down a path of asking for a prepaid debit card or a wire transfer. He got sick of me agreeing with him and not panicking, so he said "MAH MEH MAH!" like a child and hung up. I called Idaho Power to report it and they did confirm it definitely was a scam.

Thick Indian accented man said he was with Idaho Power and needed to speak to person who pays the bills. I told him she was in a meeting and could I get the phone # to have her call him back. The phone # he gave was 208-258-9973. He said he was with the disconnect department and will be shutting off the power in 45 minutes due to non-payment. I asked for the amount due but he couldn’t provide it because he is with the "disconnect dept" but he could give me the address. The address he provided was a previous address from 3 1/2 years ago. I told him "nice try scammer" and he immediately hung up.

Our secretary took a phone call for me supposedly from Idaho Power stating that we were two months behind in our payments – I knew that was not true so I returned the phone call and got this, "Idaho Power, this is Eddy Ortiz how can I help you?" So, I gave him one of our account numbers and he looked it up and said, "oh no, you are not being called because of non-payment, it looks like your meter has been damaged and we are requiring a deposit of $999.24 in order to continue using the meter." I told him that was outrageous and that he would have to speak to one of our owners. I went to talk to the owner about this and we looked the number up on the "scam report" on the web and there it was several times.

Scammer called my company and said that he was from the Idaho power company. He said that the company had a glitch in their system and that my check was being returned to me and because of that it put my balance past due and my electricity would be turned off today if immediate payment was not made. He told me to go to Walgreen’s and get a Moneypak card, have it loaded with the amount of the check that was being returned and to then call him back with the reference number on the back of the card. Then my company would be removed from the disconnect list.

While driving to Walgreen’s I had the thought to call the power company. They told me that the check that had been referred to had cleared the bank and that this was a scam. They transferred me to the police to make a report, but because I had not lost any money the police recommended that I talk with the ScamPulse.com.
