Received a text from a good friend who told me of his great windfall . This group was working in tandem with Bill Gates foundation helping folks get through these bad times with people out of work and granted him a grant without having to repay it. Sounded kind of phony and they contacted me and told me I qualified for a grant also. Tried to call my friend but could not take calls. This all came in on my friends messenger acct with his profile picture and all. When I sent him a message he reassured me that he got the money.. then they started pushing me for upfront money. I kinda knew this was a scam. He even wanted me to go to CVS and buy 900 dollars in gift cards. I finally called my friend on his cell phone and he said never heard of this whole deal. He kept sending messages on my friends acct. I finally told that I was on to him and not to contact me again as I had the FBI following this whole deal.. next comes a torrent of f words and so on that I was making a mistake and his board of directors would come alter me.by the way his wording and spelling kinda gave him away . Never know if someone contacting is who they say they are or have hacked someone’s acct that you trust.

contacted by a friend on FB who told me about IDA, and convinced me to apply for a grant from IDA. They messaged me to get personal info: name, address, mothers name, telephone #, email address, service provider; and then requested $400 in gift cards as application fee, promising an undisclosed amt of money within 24 hrs to be delivered by fedex. Friend reported receiving $300,000 grant money not to be repaid, within 12 hours and deposited at bank, and bank reported the check was good. We believe the contact to be falsified.

I thought I was being contacted by a friend through Facebook about a grant that he had gotten. Was told he’d received $100,000. I texted back wondering why he was contacting me out of the blue to tell me about it. Eventually figured out it was not my friend at all but someone who had copied his Facebook info. Was being text bye the scammers trying to make me think I was actually in contact with my friend. Was told to text to a phone number to get the application for the grant supposedly by my friend. I started asking questions and kept getting short answers and being urged to apply. I did not have to give my social security number I date of birth or anything besides my address that would have been personal information. When I was called for an interview quote on quote, I was asked if I also had credit card debt. And I said yes but that wasn’t what I was asking about. But then I was told that they also have ways of doing that if I wanted to deal with my debt instead. I finally texted them asking what the fee was going to be for the grant. Haven’t heard back from them since that question. It all looked very legit and all very real Facebook. But when I contacted my friend through Facebook messaging him privately he let me know that it was not him.p

The Scammer used a profile of someone that I attend church with and is listed on Face Book. Since she is an older woman they figured that I would trust her. They gave me the name "Eric Polite" as an agent. I was sent the information through messenger and I was kind of thrown off because we are already friends and so when I got a message request from her to send me a message I thought about it later and blocked the person. My friend’s picture disappeared in the morning and it was an empty message. In the meantime since my messenger and Face Book aren’t linked together on my phone, I didn’t see the friend request until later this morning where I reported it to Face Book and blocked the person. I did make the mistake of sending my personal info such as my name, address and phone number, not my SS #. I knew it was a scam when they wanted ITunes cards for payment. I asked about money orders and they said pay in ITunes cards. Who does that?
The [censored] stayed with me on the phone and on messenger while I went to bed, and as a matter of fact is texting me right now. They contact you through texting after you are given the number. I’m gathering information and posting it right now. He even says that he’ll take payments since I don’t have the full amount.
