HiveMicro is a website/company that has its users classify various images from the internet as clean or offensive. Once you create an account and link it to a separate PayPal account, the user goes through a training period in which they are educated on how to classify images. Then, the user is prompted to begin work by clicking through and categorizing images. The rate of payment (a few cents per thousand images classified) was made clear, and a system of prompt payment was claimed to be in place.
However, after completing over 100 classifications, I was logged off the website without cause. Any attempts to log in again were met with claims that my password was incorrect (it was not). Attempts to reset the password resulted in a promise that the company would email me at the address I had provided, and no such email ever arrived.
Ultimately, I performed work and was not paid. I do not wish to get this money back, as I only lost less than an hour’s worth of work/effort. However, this website/company will continue to scam people into providing work for free, kicking them off the website, and preventing them from ever getting compensation. I would like to prevent this from happening to anyone else. Please shut this site down.
