Type of a scam Fake Check/Money Order
This company emailed me about an open position about a contract graphic design job. I spoke to someone named Erin Longmier on Google hangout and never physically talked to her for the week I spoke to her, only through messages. She told me about the job and how I can work from home and that they’ll provide the supplies for a mini office. This is the email they sent:
Dear Jasmyne,
Congratulations on joining this company.Attached to this email is the Company Employment Offer Letter you need to sign.You are directed to print-out this letter, read carefully and append your signature.
Please note that the following equipment will be delivered to your doorstep to set up your home office before the week runs out.
*Apple Mac Book Pro Laptop
*Set of furniture *Copiers
*Card Filing Systems
*File Cabinets
*File Folders
*Graphics generator and software
*Digital Storage
*Inks and Ribbons
*Surge Protectors and Automated Time Tracker
You are to attach to this document a copy of your valid ID for employment confirmation.After this, the check to pay for the equipment listed above for your mini office equipment will be mailed out today so we can proceed to next step which is the training.
Note: Upon signing of this contract with the company you are bound by LAW to not destroy any of the company’s property i.e: Equipment sent and delivered to you for your work or Check sent to you for payment.Contravening any of these rules will render this contract null and void and penalties will be incurred.

They sent a check and I tried to deposit the check in the bank but the tellers told me that it was a fraudulent check. They even checked the account and routing numbers and told me that it matched up with fake bank accounts. I tried to contact Erin again to see if I could talk to her on the phone but she denied the accusation and told me to take the check and rip it up. She then became rude and me from contacting her through Google hangout.
The company that emailed me had NO Phone to contact, only email and they didn’t say where they were stationed either.
