Type of a scam Fake Check/Money Order
I received an email about needing people to complete surveys. I posted that I was interested. They said they would mail my packet. I received a priority envelope with a letter on one side, surgery questions on the other and a cashiers check for $2900. It told me to text once I received this packet. Text when I deposited the check. Purchase 2 apple giftcards and keep $300 (or $500 if I completed in 2 days) for myself. Once this was complete I was supposed to text another number and then email pictures of the back of the gift cards showing card number and pin along with a picture of the survey.
I thought this sounded too good to be true. At the bottom of the paper it said to let them know if I couldn’t get to a apple store that I can go to a Walmart, Target or Best Buy.
I decided to research this and have found multiple reports of this happening fraudulently. I have since shredded the cashiers check and are now reporting. I would hate for this to happen to anyone else.
