I applied for a data entry job online through Indeed. Ii received a notification back through their site that they were interested in me and to forward my resume and salary requirements to another email. Once I did that, I received an email back from Karen Domingue (the director) stating that I was hired but for an executive assistant for an non profit organization called Hassine Foundation. Further communications started that I would receive an assignment prior to us meeting in person because she was away in Dubai meeting partners. I was emailed a W-4 and I-9 form to fill out to bring to our future meeting. I received an email stating that my first assignment was to find hotel pricing and a return flight pricing for a specific date and that I would be fed ex’d a check to my address that I would need to deposit and then I would receive instructions on where to donate that money to. No sooner did fed ex arrive at my house with an overnighted check made out to me. At this point, I was sure this has to be a scam. I responded and stated I would not be depositing that check into my own personal bank acct. I told her my concerns that this was a scam and I would not be going forward with the assignment I was given. My concern is that I have this check now made out to me and maybe it’s stolen / scammed money that really belongs to someone else. This check could be fraudulent and I could be a part of moving / laundering stolen money. So I am not depositing the check as it seems like a scam.

These people set up a job offer through indeed. Once you apply they have you to email someone at a different email. That person would then email you a little about themselves and the supposedly job description of what you will be doing and getting paid. But, you will have to email them your personal info with your address and NO PO BOX accepted. They will then mail you more forms like I9, etc to fill out and return. Basically you will automatically have the job. No interview, no phone calls, nothing. The sent sent info about the co pant with a link and the website doesn’t have much info, but allows for someone to make donations on the site.

This was the second attempt and others I’ve spoken with said they have received same email for similar job.
