The people called claiming my wife had an unpaided credit card bill that was last paid Oct 2014 and they were going to issue me a subpoena to appear in court. Even though this was my wife’s card, they said I was liable as an authorized user. They claim that if this went to court, it could cost me over $5,000 in court fees and charges. They said the amount would only be around $2,600 if I could make the payment today. We said we don’t have the money and they said what could we agree to pay and they would see if the creditor would accept it.
They never sent us any paperwork (not even email) of the alleged debt. They said they would send something only after we agreed on the amount we would pay.
