Type of a scam Government Grant

I been getting calls for the last two months from men and women with foreign accents. They tell me I’ve been approved for a grant because I haven’t filed bankruptcy and haven’t been to college. They say I will receive $9000 in my bank account or by Western Union. They told me to lie to their supervisor and tell them that I have my GED. They asked me the following questions: Do I have my high school diploma or GED, that I have a Bachelor’s Degree, that I want to take classes online or on campus, I’m supposed to say I will study computers, criminal justice. They said if I didn’t answer these questions correctly, I wouldn’t be eligible for the financial aid. They told me to go to Family Dollar and buy a $200 prepaid card.

I recd a ph call this morning at 10:00 AM. The man had an accent and offered a govt grant and I had to take advantage of it. He asked for all of our personal information SSN, acct. no., etc. I told him I was not interested and he had a very rude demeanor and used abusive language. I just hung up on him.

I recd a call for a Government Grant several days ago. First, I spoke w/man (646-535-5997) no. who told me I was approved for an $8000 grant that I did not have to pay back. He gave me a number a code: SR8974 & 3165. He instructed me to go to Kroger & purchase an ITune Card & put in $250 in the card. Then he wanted me to give him the numbers on the card. He told me to call 206-823-3027 & I spoke with a woman who told me she was processing the funds to be released. She then told me that I had to purchase a PPI insurance for $500 because anything over $7000 had to be insured. I did not purchase the insurance but they already have the $250. I requested they return my $250 but she said the money was on hold and unless I receive the $8000 it was the only way to return my $250.

I found out later this was a scam.
