Contacted by phone by an individual posing as a sales representative for Global IT Support representing Micro- Soft? The individual wanted to know if I’d like to continue my contract for IT services for $1500; if so, they will charge my credit card for $1500. I ask what credit card number is he referencing. The individual noted he cannot disclose this information over the phone because of privacy of information. I opted to discontinue the service. The individual then noted that I would have to complete an on-line form to do so and noted that he would send a code to my computer to allow access to the form. I loaded the code and the form appeared but at the same time the individual had control of my computer. I questioned the date of my initial contract to which he produced a day/month/year contract. The discontinue form ask for my name, address, e mail and what bank account (checking or savings with no reference to bank name or account number). I’d like to have my refund deposited to. I questioned what refund? He explained since I’m opting out of future service that I’m entitled to a $400 refund from my initial contract. So why $1500? He explained the company he represents is going out of business and another organization will assume their customers. I ask how does he know what banking institution to make the deposit….he noted without prompting that he knows I bank with three banking institutions and named them. I asked how I’d know when the deposit is made. He noted that I can log into my bank account and immediately see the deposit..I logged into a bank account which the individual could see. He then noted that I needed to indicate a deposit of $400 to the selected account….I did so and removed my hands from the keyboard immediately. As I watched the screen another 0 was added bringing the deposit to $4000. I noted that the deposit was for $4000, not $400. He noted that this is a huge mistake and that I must refund $3500 (not $3600 as I could keep an additional $100 for my troubles). He provided instructions on how to conduct the $3500 refund as follows: go to a large store such as Home Depot, Kroger, Target and purchase 7 x $500 gift cards, do not hang up your cell phone in route to the retail store, purchase the cards and provide the bar code numbers to him so he can enter the transaction to the firm’s account. He pressed hard for me to execute his direction. I told him that I know this is a scam and I’m dropping the line. I asked that he relinquish control of my laptop…he noted that he cannot do so until I’ve refunded their $3500. He noted that I’m now spamming him and his firm for $4000 and threatened that if I dropped the line and did not execute his direction that ALL of my accounts in all institutions would be emptied…zeroed out. I noted this is a chance I’m going to take and dropped the cell phone connection…I attempted to shut down and restart my laptop but he still maintained control. I shut down and unplugged my computer. I immediately alerted my financial institutions to the fraud and froze ALL accounts. There were two individuals involved in this scam….both sounded of Asian and/or Phillipino descent.

Company leaves an automated msg. saying your account "Which will be automatically debited from your account. If you would like to cancel the contract today, please call us now on our toll free number showing on phone display 888-302-4985." When you call back the number as instructed, you can hear many other callers in the background and they act as though they don’t know anything about a contract or any of the other information left in the voicemail. They want you "fill out a form" which means you need to provide your personal information to "cancel your contract." A contract that doesn’t exist or they want to sell you a contract to support your computer software. They claim to be "Part of Microsoft" I should have lied and told the scammer I had an Apple computer! I overheard another "sales person" in the background repeatedly say to another caller, "Ma’ am I need you to go to the store" I only hope she wasn’t going to buy a money order.

Received a call from a man, at the phone number: 05124715434 with the Call Display name: V42713053600147

He has a thick Indian accent, calling from a noisy call-centre, telling me that updates weren’t being received by my computer. When questioned he presented himself as an employee of a Global IT Support company, and then I was instructed to press the "Control+Windows" keys to start investigating the problem. I cut off the caller and told him I would bring the computer down to the IT department in person, then he wrapped up the call right away.
