Global Assistance and Community Supports

Ross – Feb 05, 2021

My wife just had very similar experience. Friend request from her aunt. Story the same as above. Thankfully, their English was grammatically poor, plus the speed they want to do things.
But the clincher was reading this site. Quite sophisticated as googling them yields an authentic looking website.
Thanks to everyone here.

Received Facebook messenger connection request from an acquaintance. We were connected on Facebook but do not talk frequently. I lost my job to corporate downsizing and the message asked if I had heard about the Gacs new life offer. I responded I had not- and the return message was "I’m talking about Global assistance and Community support that give out funds to all people and help them maintain good standard of living.have you heard about it? "

As this person is a professional/ colleague i trusted them. She gave me a phone number and said – just text this number and tell them you want to apply and make a claim and that I referred you. I didn’t do immediately and soon got a message from my friend saying go ahead and text them and let me know if you get a response so I can make sure I’ve given you the correct phone number. She stated they’ll have you complete a form. However, the initial text utilized bad English and I was suspicious. It said "YOU ARE HIGHLY WRLCOM TO OUR PRIVATELINE..TELL US YOUR FULL NAME SO THAY WE RUN CJECK ON OUR DATABASE IF YOUR NSME IS ON OUR WINING LIST". I copied the text and sent it to my "friend" via messenger- telling her that sounded weird. She said it’s OK I have done it and received assistance. The text later asked me for my full name and address so I sent a message to my friend and said they are asking for my name / address via text. She responded yes that’s the form it’s OK. I told her I would trust her but it was really strange. Eventually I got this text "THANKS FOR GETTING BACK TO US

IMPORTANT NOTICE : YOU ARE REQUIRED TO KEEP YOUR WINNING CONFIDENTIAL FROM ANYONE UNTIL THE UPS TRUCK GET TO YOUR DOORSTEP TO DELIVER YOUR WINNING SO AS NOT TO GET YOUR WINNING HIJACKED BY SOMEONE ELSE. YOU NEED TO OBEY THIS RULE TO AVOID UNNECESSARY COMPLICATIONS. KINDLY CONFIRM TO US , YOU RECEIVE THE BELOW DELIVERY DETAILS . DELIVERY DETAILS : 1. Ticket Number: DAN782653NN62 2. Serial No: F198UJHDHK09 3. Reference Number: 64789W300 CONGRATULATION ONCE AGAIN, YOUR WINNING MONEY HAS BEEN PROCESSING FOR PACKAGED AND IT WILL DELIVER TO YOUR HOME ADDRESS IN 7 HOURS TIME AFTER WE CONFIRMED YOUR PAYMENT FOR THE UPS DELIVERY AND CASE FILE FEE…YOU ARE QUALIFY TO WIN A SUM OF ($70,000) AND YOU ARE TO PAY ($1000) FOR THE DELIVERY AND CASE FILE FEE"

At this point I realize this must be a scam. However my friend is still messaging me so I asked "Did you pay them money". She responded just the UPS fee and I received my money. Then she messaged again and said yes I sent $1000 and got back $70000.

I went ahead and asked via text with the company for their website. The website they eventually sent me was a wix site with Mis-spellings. I started looking back through the FB messages from my friend…while we’re just acquaintances I realized it didn’t sound like things she would say. I started trying to figure out an alternate way to contact her to see if she had been hacked…meanwhile I asked my friend a question like "hey what are you up to these days?…give me a call let’s just chat. I got back a oh I’m just so busy spending this money I invested. It was like a bad line out of a movie and not something this professional person would ever say.

I finally told them I can tell by the messages it’s not Kimberly and then texted the phone number – thanks but No thanks

They tried to call me 2x.

I embarrassed that I even provided my name and address. I had alarm bells going off but I really trust the person whose account they had hacked.
