Type of a scam Debt Collections
An Individual named Evan Wilkes called saying that he was from FPL saying that he was sending technicians to our office to disconnect the Power due to 2 months of past due invoices. He said to call 1-888-616-7555 to resolve the issue. I noticed this number was not the customer service of FPL and I called the actual FPL’s number. When I asked about my account they said everything was in order and that they were NOT going to disconnect our power.
Evan called again about 10 minutes later saying the same thing, and when I confronted him saying that I already called FPL and we had no past due accounts, he said that there are two different departments and that if I called the number from the invoice, they will not be able to tell me what was wrong. He then changed his story saying that the payment was not going through and that maybe there was a possible refund. He got very persuasive. I then asked him that which account he was talking about and he said he was not allowed to say any account number or he could get fired. He said that I needed to call to the number and give them my account number. I said to him that I already called FPL and gave them my account number and everything is ok. He hanged up on me
