They called me to tell me my light was going to be cut off and that I needed to pay $795.00. They kept on saying that I would need to pay this or my light would be cut off in 30 minutes.

We received a call today from a woman who claimed to work for FPL. She stated that they were going to come out to our business office to shut off our power within the next 30 minutes. Our office location gets power through the City of Lake Worth, so I found it unusual that FPL would be threatening to turn off our power. The woman wouldn’t tell me why they were going to turn off the power, just said that there must have been a past due balance on the account. She wouldn’t even give me a balance for the supposed past due amount. She proceeded to provide me with this phone number 1-800-553-6040 that she claimed was FPL’s billing department phone number and gave me a reference number to give them when I call. I took the liberty of googling FPL and obtaining their billing dept phone number myself (1-800-226-5885), and realized that it was not the same as the one this woman gave me. I then googled the phone number that she gave me and it showed that it is associated with some business called "Bumper Lanes LLC" located in Illinois. This call was totally bogus and a scam.
