The first email I received made it appear someone with a different name had used my email to register for a legitimate service organization, supposedly based out of Chicago. I sincerely doubt that they are actually in Chicago. My suspicion is they are actually based outside of the United States. If you go to who "whois.icann.org", and search the URL I provided, it appears it may be in Panama. Below is the output. They have gone to great lengths to hide who they actually are.

Anyway, I clicked on the "unsubscribe" link in the original email and that’s then when the flood of emails actually started. I now have a filter in my gmail sending all of their emails directly to trash. I receive about ten a day.

I am answering "No" to "Did the scammer attempt to take money? *" because I never actually let them contact me, or me them. I highly suspect they would require "fees" if I actually did contact them.
