Type of a scam Fake Check/Money Order

I was looking for Pomeranians online and came across this website that said it was half off and could ship the dog out for basically free. When I sent him an email, responded fairly quickly and then started to text me. He even sent me photos of the dog I picked out. We exchanged numbers and he called me and I expressed my fears of it being a scam. He proceeded to tell me that this is not a scam and I asked if he registered the dogs with the AKC and BBB and he told me that he and his wife do this as a hobby and his wife is in the hospital about to give birth, so that’s why they’re trying to find the dogs good homes. He had me sign a contract and sent t to him. He also said the cc machine was down, so I needed to send a Moneygram (I’ve never sent a Moneygram in my life, so I didn’t know). I saw the time stamp of the picture he sent me, because they said January 1, 2009 12:00am, so I questioned him about it and he said he got a new Sony camera and hadn’t updated it. He then asked why I was asking all these questions and why I was so skeptical (to make me think I was paranoid). When I texted and called him after that, he never responded and that’s when I decided to look up the phone number that was on the contract and found out that other people had been scammed as well. They may have used different last names and a different website, but it was still the same people. I’m now out $660.75, dog less, heartbroken, and managed to screw up my own birthday present to myself.
