Type of a scam Business Email Compromise
The Insurance Marketing and Communications Association is having a conference in June at the Scottsdale Resort at McCormick Ranch. The scammers have taken the speaker information off our website and called each pretending they are working on behalf of IMCA to book their rooms. They have also emailed a bogus form. The telephone number is 1-888-880-1655, We have notified our speakers, put a notice on our website and I’ve contacted all our sponsors/exhibitors with a heads up on the scammers. I plan to call them directly and email them to stop their activities toward our conference attendees. We will also add the information to our eblasts to our attendees. However, I want them to stop this activity. I will let them know that I am reporting them in the state of FL and AZ where our conference is.
