An imposter from Entergy called to say our electricity meter had been switched out and our payment we made was returned back to us. Dana (the imposter), said Entergy would be to our business later today to disconnect our electricity. I logged into my checking account and found our payment HAD processed properly and had NOT been returned to us. I told him this while I was on the phone. I told him we were set up on auto-pay and there were no issues with our payments. He still insisted he was from Entergy and even gave me a case number, TC8570074. I told him I knew he was a scammer and I would report him to the Better Business Bureau. He hung up on me.

I received a phone call on my cell from phone number ###-###-#### in regards to someone posing to be Entergy. They indicated that my Electric will be turned off today because of non payment. I told them that i paid it already but they insisted that i didn’t and said that i needed to pay it today or ese my service will be turned off today. I needed to go to nearest Winn Dixie to a kiosh and use cash only and pay them now asap. But i looked up my account to make sure that there was no mistake and it stated that it was paid and I have a 0.00 balance. Also i realized that the CARES act is in place and no disconnect are taking place now due to COVID.

She told me to call her back at this number when i get to the store and she would give me more instructions. She wanted me to call her back at ###-###-#### exr. 2105 and ask for EVA.

Received a pre-recorded phone call to our office saying Entergy was disconnecting us remotely today. I pressed a number to speak to someone who then identified themselves a David ********* Supervisor. He said we had not paid our bill and we scheduled to have power cut off ASAP. Argued w/e when I said we could pay at the Entergy office on Canal Street, saying that would be "too late" and we had to go to CVS or $ General, take cash and then receive a payment voucher which we then needed to call him back with and give the number. I was trying to access our bank account to see if our check had cleared and couldn’t get to it fast enough to avoid disconnection. This is a business and we have 4 accounts w/Entergy. They did not have any account numbers but I think goit our street address from our phone number which they called on.

They start the call with a recording saying that your lights are due to be cut off that day. You then are given a 800 number to call or press 1 to speak to someone. When you press one they tell you that your lights are going to be cut off. I asked them if they could tell me the balance on account. Of course they could not. After I told them that I know that we have no balance they hung up. This is not the first time these people have done this. Last time I played along to see what they would say and they tell you to get a money pack card to pay the bill.

Whoever calls from ###-###-#### or any variation of this number be it #225 with foreign agents that threaten to cut off your power in 30 mins only wants to gain access to your personal info, banking etc. Clearly If they represent a utility company they should have your account number not you provide it to them. I requested to speak with a manager several times and never did anyone come on the phone, after i insisted that payment was made automatic they simply didn’t come back to the phone. Be Aware and don’t accept anyone calling or bringing problems before you verify, it’s very easy to react than think tell them you will call entergy or whoever is threatening to do anything…. For the record you should verify entergy’s number and call them before falling into the hands of scammers…..Also, take the next step and report this to your local better business bureau, news media and everywhere so they inform the public….

First of all, the caller ID listed as unknown. That was the first red flag. He was a forigenor, probably Vietmaniese. He identified himself as calling from Entergy. Another red flag. If it was Entergy, it would have shown on my caller ID as Entergy. He wanted my account number. I told him that I didn’t have that information in front of me at the time. He asked for the account name, and I told him my name. And he asked for the address where this service was connected. I gave it to hem. Big mistake! I didn’t realize it when I did it. He told me that my account was scheduled to be turned off today for non payment. I laughed at him and told him that that was impossible, since I had automatic pay. Than he asked if I could hold for a minute while he checked. He put me on hold for a time, with music playing in the background, came back and told me that My automatic payment things had expired, and that I owed for the last two months. He told me that I would be getting forms in the mail to restart the automatic payment. But that unless I payed the past due amount, my service would be turned off today. Another red flag. I don’t think Entergy is turning off anyone’s power right now dut to Covid 19. I knew what the next question would be. He would want banking information. So I told him that I was sorry, but I was have to call Entergy myself directly, because I thought this might be a scam. Immediate disconnect. I knew it! The # they called from was very close to the customer service number for Entergy. Theirs was 367m Entergy’s is 368. Their number was 504-367-8899. Hope you can catch them. They were very convencing. They always are. I called Entergy immediately and reported the scam. I told them exactly what I have written here.

A caller claiming his name was Paul Williams from Entergy called my business phone on Sept. 9, 2019. He said that my electricity was being turned off because my last 3 payments were received but were posted to a different account and they’re trying to rectify their mistake. But in the meantime, he said I had to pay or my electricity will be turned off. Said I should pay now and they’d send me 3 reimbursement checks. And that if I didn’t pay now, I would have to pay extra for reconnecting. They gave me a 6-digit work order #. I refused and he hung up. I then called the Entergy phone# listed on my bill and they said to report it here, that mine was the 2nd similar call to this and that they’d let one know well in advance before turning off electricity – and that they never request payment over the phone. And their order #s are always 12-16 digits long.

"Jessica" called from Entergy at 11:15 or so, saying she was making a courtesy call to inform us that our power was going to be cut off between noon and 3pm because of our account not being paid for 2 months. I asked of I could provide a credit card over the phone, and she said that she was just the courtesy department – that I had to call another number get instructions on how to pay the bill. So my coworker called the "payment department" and was told we had to go immediately to a payment center to pay this bill – either at Albertson’s or CVS. In the meantime,we contacted the owner of the gallery to try to see how we were to proceed, and he said he thought this was a scam. He was then contacted by the "payment department" and was talking to him about how to pay this bill – a certain reference number was to be used, etc. The owner then called me to get the Entergy account number. Meanwhile, I received 2 calls, from the "truck dispatcher" and the "cut off crew" asking when the payment was going to be made because they had instructions to cut us off. I expressed to him that the payment was on the way, but that he needed to understand that we were very uncomfortable with how this was being played out – that this was all happening on a Saturday and we couldn’t get anyone from Entergy on the phone. The scammer then got angry and hung up the phone. Thankfully, the owner of the gallery called his friend at Entergy, who said that indeed, this was a scam. Thank God!

They said that they represented Tara Energy, our electricity provider, and that the disconnect order could not be stopped unless we made an "emergency payment" which would be refunded after their investigation. I was given detailed instructions to go to the closest CVS pharmacy, purchase two Money Paks (one for $500, one for $498.36) and call them back within 45 minutes. I immediately called our provider and verified no such order and all payments were up to date. They advised there was nothing they could do. I called the fake Entergy number back and spoke to the man (Frank Williams, id’d himself as District Manager at ext 1906) and advised him that I had called Tara Energy and knew he was scamming. He hung up! I called the REAL Entergy company and reported the incident to them.

The scammer called my business to let me know that my Entergy account was overdue and they would disconnect me tomorrow. I called back the number he left. He answered and told me he was from the disconnect department at Entergy and they were going to shut off services tomorrow. He wanted the phone number I was calling about and my account number. I did not give him any of that information. I told him I would call Entergy directly and speak with them. I know that I have a zero balance due. I called Entergy and reported the scam.

I received a phone call at my business, saying they where entergy power supplier and I am delinquent on my power bill. First of all my bill is automatically drafted from my account(which has plenty enough in it to cover electricity bill) secondly I do not even have Entergy as a power supplier, I am on slemco. I called back from business phone to question them since I knew it was a scam(had the same thing happen last year). They then blocked my number and I then called from my cell and after a couple questions on my part they hung up and blocked my cell number as well. Be careful who you trust people.

This is the third consecutive month where I was contacted by phone (caller id #522). The scammer is telling me that I am past due on my Entergy bill and service will be disconnected in 30 minutes. I was then given a number to call Customer Services (1-855-223-4154) to pay the bill. Since my Entergy Bill is paid by automatically, I called Entergy to confirm my payment was received. A few minutes ago, I called the above ref. number and spoke to someone who would have been happy to take my credit card info. When I confronted him and accused him of participating in a scam, he laughed and gloated that people are paying…..

I am the Event Coordinator/Office Manager at JPATS LLC DBA Annunciation Restaurant. I received phone call and voicemail on Thursday, January 12, and returned on Friday, January 13. When I called, they said we have a delinquency on our account from October, and that we were scheduled for disconnect today. When I told him I have the Entergy bill in front of me, and that it doesn’t show a delinquency, he was persistent in telling me "well ma’am, your are scheduled for disconnect today, and the technicians are 4 miles down the street" and basically told me the only way to get myself off of the work order was to pay today. When I explained there is a mistake, and that they needed to take care of this and figure it out because we are a restaurant and can’t have our power out on a Friday night, he got very insistent "well ma’am, if it’s not paid, you will be disconnected". He kept telling me he would see what he could do, and would call his supervisor and the technicians and see if he could buy me sometime, but that if I wanted to be taken off the service order, there had to be payment made. At first he told me we owed somewhere around $1,500, but when I asked how? He said I’m not sure ma’am, but I’ll put in a claim for you, and it will be investigated, but no matter what it needs to be paid, and the money can be reimbursed after the claim is resolved. He gave me a claim number of PX0011610202. I told him I have a check here and signed, and he got mad saying "I told you, we cannot take a check!!" After I got the money, I called back, and said I got the money and I am taking it to Entergy now, and he said no ma’am, you cannot, you have to bring it to the designated partner to get utility cards in order to pay it because a check and a card purchase will not go through immediately, and they needed to be able to give reference numbers to the technicians immediately in order for us to come off of the work order. I was told to go to the RiteAid located at 3401 St. Charles Ave – and that I needed to go to the prepaid selection, and could only purchase the "Moneypak" cardboard ones, not the plastic like a debit card. That they would be green, and have scratchoffs which would be the reference numbers for each payment. I needed to get 5 cards total – 4 that were loaded with $350, and 1 that was loaded with $243.18. He was "doing me a favor" and told me that I needed to make sure that when I checked out, if the clerk asked, I was not getting these to pay a delinquent account, that it was personal use, so that I would only get charged about $5 instead of $30. When I called him and told him I would work on that, but that my keys were locked in my car while I was getting gas, he got upset and told me I needed to do it soon. Once we realized what’s going on, I haven’t gotten back into contact with him, and I have already called non-emergency police department in New Orleans, and I am waiting for an officer to come speak with me.

The original call was from 1-800-368-3749, and on the caller ID it came up as "Entergy Corp", but the callback number I was given was 1-844-762-6198. The two names that I caught were Bob and George, and George is who I spoke with the most, whose extension is 8003.

Scammer called saying that he worked for the debt collection for entergy. Said his name was Dominic. He told me that the "debt collection" service had sent out 3 different notices that we did not respond to. Told me the envelopes were red in color. Entergy does not use red envelopes when they send out information. Dominic told me that I needed to do a cash advance before my services would be turned off; which would have been in the next 30-45mins. He was in a hurry to try to get me off the phone, which was probably because he knew that I knew it was fake. The number they called from was 800-368-3749 which did in fact say "Entergy" on the caller ID. He then gave me a 2nd number to call to pay my bill with him! But then said it was a customer service number. That number is 844-762-6198 ext. 8002. He would later hang up on me after I put him on hold for a little bit. I called back to get more information through the "customer service" number provided. Had to go through a few steps to get to talk to someone. A receptionist answered the phone, I told her I was calling back from Dominic because that’s what I was supposed to do. She transferred me and a man picked up saying his name was Ron Stevens the head supervisor of disconnection & billing department. After asking him a few questions and giving him the run around he proceeded to curse me out, tell me I was wasting HIS time ha, and then threatened me.

Caller claims customer (business customer in this case) will have utility service disconnected within 30 minutes for non-payment. when number was called, person on the other end could not provide correct information about billing history. I informed them I would contact the ScamPulse.com and report them as a scam and the person became unprofessional and used a lot of vulgar profanity.

A man called our business in West Monroe, LA and said he was a field tech from entergy. He said his truck number is 1367 and by law code (he stated some numbers) he had to tell me he was coming in one hour to our address to disconnect our service due to non payment. He said I needed to call customer service at 888-536-9520 ext 0 (this is the number that showed up on caller ID)and give them work# 8541LA5397. He said he didn’t have an account number because he was just a field tech. I called our main office in Baton Rouge, LA they pay the bills. When I told my book keeper about the phone call she said it was a scam, they called her in Baton Rouge a month ago. She said when you call their customer service number they want you to make a payment to this place. She said she hung up on them call the REAL entergy and told them and they said it was a scam. I have never reported anything like this but this guy sounded like the real deal, and I know a lot of older people are going to fall for this. We just had major flooding in this area and people lost everything they don’t need scammers taking the rest of what they have left. Thank you for your time.

The business was contacted by an individual claiming to be a representative for Entergy. The individual said that the business’s account was overdue and the electricity would be shut off in less than an hour (they said 3:00PM, it was 2:15PM at the time.) The person claiming to be from Entergy said that the business owner was to take $500 cash to the local CVS where they would contact a person by the name of Jason Williams at 1-877-276-9907 ext. 317. The payment would then be sent to the Entergy Service Center where the account would be credited and the electricity would not be disconnected. We immediately realized that it was a potential scam and contacted the account holder (who is not the business owner) and were told that they had been notified by area police that the scam had happened to two other businesses on the same day. The person called back at 3:00PM and asked to speak to the business owner and explained to me who he was. I immediately told him that we were aware of the scam and had been in contact with the police to which the individual hung up the phone.
